Her interest in archaic blues, guitar loops and delays was the main inspiration for her first album "ToTheOtherSideΔ", released on Boring Machines in 2011. The new album, entitled “Hazy Lights” is a more stripped down affair. Most of the loopers and delays have been put aside, in favour of a more organic and simple texture of light arpeggios where the beautiful voice of Marcella can float freely and gently. The record is a collection of folky songs which move to another concept of psychedelia. This time is more rural and human, reminding a lot some of the british folk tunes. The record sees the accompanying of Maurizio Abate who uses bass, electric guitars, lapsteel, harmonica, tanpura to create a gentle flow of sounds around BeMyDelay’s minimal guitar plucking. Her interest in archaic blues and adventurous music is the ground for building a song collection which tastes of experimental blues, vocali drones, acoustic pareidolia. BeMyDelay takes the listener to a soft voyage, letting the mind flow gently, a cosmic singalong where melodies come and go circularly, immersed in a muffled and ethereal atmosphere. Voice is used as an instrument, following the guitar loops and delays. The new album, entitled "ToTheOtherSideΔ" is based around manipulation of two loop stations, a couple of old wha-wha tibetan bells and some percussions, which togheter with the voice create circular vortex where the mind can loose herself into thousand echoes floating inside the songs. "ToTheOtherSideΔ" is another piece of the puzzle of that female psychedelia that goes from GRouper to US Girls, Valet and many more. The sound here is more shaped and definite than Liz Harris’ or Honey Owens’, sounding less narcoleptic and more acoustically psychedelic, even using a large array of effects. The initial "YouAndMeAndTheSunshine" trace the route of the album immediately, a record focused on simple concentric guitar loops that are swollen or deranged and followed by the circular singing of the vocal phrases. There are rithmic accelerations like "TowardTheSun" and moment of pure liquified psychedelia "TearsAndVisions", in an album which induces repeat listening through a seamless tracking list.
